Ebba Wallén is a versatile Swedish flutist, active in both Baroque and contemporary music. Born in 1994 and raised in Malmö, she currently holds the position of principal flutist with the Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra in Umeå, Sweden.
Her formal education includes studies at the Norwegian Academy of Music with Per Flemström and at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich with Philippe Boucly, where she completed her Master of Music degree in 2021. She has further refined her artistry through master classes with distinguished flutists including Andrea Lieberknecht, Henrik Wiese, Jacques Zoon, Gaby Pas-van Riet, Herman van Kogelenberg, and Emily Beynon.
Ebba has appeared with leading orchestras such as the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic, the Malmö Symphony Orchestra, the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, and the Philharmonie Salzburg. In January–February 2026, she served as principal flutist at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm, collaborating with Alan Gilbert and others.
Her achievements include prizes at several international competitions, among them the International Classical Music Competition in Val de Travers, the Stockholm International Music Competition, Polstjärnepriset, and Öresundssolist. In 2021, she was selected as one of 53 competitors from 486 applicants for the prestigious Kobe International Flute Competition. In January 2023, she was a finalist in Sweden’s largest music competition, Blåsmusikpriset, performing the Reinecke Flute Concerto as a soloist at Malmö Live.
Ebba has received scholarships from numerous institutions, including the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and Villa Musica in Germany, where she is regularly invited to participate in chamber music projects. In the summer of 2023, she completed her second master’s degree, specializing in Baroque music, traverso, and pedagogy, at the Hochschule für Katholische Kirchenmusik und Musikpädagogik Regensburg, graduating with the highest distinction.
